Weekly Summary (week 1)

whew, what a week! I signed up for about twice as many social media accounts as I had before… and resurrected a couple that had been lost to the depths of the interwebs. It turns out this whole social thing is more complicated than it looks, which is partly why I had never bothered before.

DS106 Multi-modal intro

This was my first attempt in about two years to actually use my blog in a meaningful manner. It works, right? And I learned something about embedding- it’s actually really, really easy. Like, ridiculously easy. I also reflected on Show Your Work:

Show Your Work

aaaand that link’s not embedding? shit, I jinxed it. Never mind, folks, I have no clue what I’m doing. However, I liked that article much better than I liked the article on the “post-ownership society” (that phrase BOTHERS ME SO MUCH).

A Domain of One’s Own in a Post-Ownership Society: Critique

WHY IS THIS EMBEDDING WORKING??? send help i hate the internet

Just kidding. Mostly. Right now I’m having three different conversations with someone in Hong Kong, someone in Oklahoma, and someone in Virginia while listening to the Lord of the Rings soundtrack, so I guess the internet’s not so bad.

Internet and Web: Personal Meaning

and… this is apparently another way to link? ok. I’m still learning.

The Internet- a few questions

I’ve actually learned that I really, really like soundcloud. The selection is kinda limited compared to other services, but the scarcity of ads is slowly drawing me in. Also, I found Mass Effect Gangham Style last night and I’m still laughing about it. It’s so 2012 but so worth it.

Overall, other than figuring out how to use the various sites I’m now on, I think I did more thinking this week than necessarily learning.
